When the wedding season really ‘starts’ is a bit of a debate – every photographer has a different idea of when that is. For me, it’s October. No curtain raisers. No pre-season. It’s straight to the main event. This season, I got to kick it off in true style, with Erica and Brett. They married at Silverstream Retreat on one of those days that threatens rain and never quite gets there (thankfully – I think our collective will scared it right off!).
It was such a joy to be chosen by these two, as I photographed their friends Anna and Matt in Riversdale late last season. I love being asked to shoot by friends or family of other couples – every subsequent day is a little reunion! It was certainly clear that Erica and Brett are much loved, much in love and have a lifetime of that love to look forward to. They were beautiful together and I am so grateful to have started the 2013/14 season with them.
As per always, these moments were all natural (just the couple hanging out being themselves), except for the black and white shot of Erica who looked so freaking gorgeous I stole her away from getting ready for 5 minutes to ‘look this way, ohmygoodness I’m digging your style so much can I photograph you all day? No? You have a wedding to get to? Okay.’
