When I am contacted by friends or guests of previous weddings I’ve shot, for their wedding being held in their own backyard, where they’ve lovingly handmade the favors (jam), stitched together the pastel bunting, and hand dyed their bridesmaids shoes, where every detail has been so carefully personalized with loving care, I am left with a sense of wonder. That someone lets me in to the most important day of their lives to document their love story for them, without really knowing much about me, will always leave me floating on air with happiness. It’s the job of a lifetime and I’m so honored to be able to do it.
Leah and Simon were just this couple, they emailed me from way up north in sunny Tauranga, Pahoia, asking me to be their wedding photographer after only hearing about me through a friend of a friend. With their trust in me I headed up the country to find the most sun drenched Avocado orchard (Simon’s Dad’s home), all set up with every handmade detail ready for the wedding filled with love and laughter. These are the weddings I love to shoot, handmade, unique, and tucked away in a remote corner of New Zealand, filled with creative people, coming together to celebrate love.
