Wellington Winter Wedding Photography | Wellesley Boutique Hotel

I love winter weddings. You see, I’m kind of a traitor to my profession. I think I even prefer winter to summer (gasp!) because it’s just so romantic. Fireplaces, cold winds howling, rain falling, dark skies: I can’t get enough of it.

This unpredictable Wellington winter, I had the opportunity to photograph a gorgeous wedding at the Wellesley boutique hotel. Petrina and Fern had a brunch wedding. When they met, they were working nights and couldn’t date around dinner, so they had brunch dates instead. Seriously, with a sweet story like that, how can you not fall in love with this couple?

After brunch we had a wander through the old hotel to get some photos, including this one. The hotel generously let us look around for something unique that we could use as a backdrop and we found this quiet, unused room upstairs. Petrina and Fern took a moment for themselves in the light.
